Overview - The scenario
The BBC, in association with the Recycle Now organisation, are looking to develop a cross platform series of games, videos and animated stories to promote and raise the profile of recycling amongst young people (it is up to you to identify an age range).
They are looking for ideas for characters to be used during the development of this project, the only specific requirement for your character is that it is not human but an anthropomorphised animal or object.
They would like to see a full digital documentation of your progress through a comprehensive blog alongside a series of concept drawings and visual representations of the characters you have developed.
These proposed characters should also have a rationale that explains their evidence.

Photoshop Trials With Colour

We started off tracing the outline of one of our images and scanning them on to the computer, we also looked through many books of images and comics taking bits and pieces to also scan in.
We then had just the outline of our original image and we began to play around with them.

The original image i chose to work with.
This was after i had drawn the outline and scanned it in. I just took the outline and left out all details so i would have a broader range of ideas to work with.

This was the beginning of my trials, i started with adding a arm holding smoking which i attached to the side of the cats body. I then added a pair of eyes and enlarged them to look googly and disproportionate. Finally i added a mouth which i shrunk and widened for a weird alien scary look to what used to be a cute little kitten.

Finally i added colour, i started with the body and after much trouble with copying and selecting and deselecting i managed to colour the whole body on my own. I made the whole body the same colour and made the eyes go darker. the cuff turned red and the lips green.

In conclusion although i am still finding Photoshop incredibly difficult, i am starting to get an idea of what to do for certain situations. I found this exercise very good as i can now fill and colour sections of a picture.
